LAOSHI MARKLE, TEACHING CREDENTIALS

Beginning in 2004, Laoshi Markle began teaching at her own place "Summit Martial Arts Academy & Wellness Center." which was changed to "Gold Summit Martial Arts Institute" in 2008.  If you ask Laoshi how she got started, she will tell you she never intended to have a school but one thing led to another and soon she had a following.

When she was young, she taught KICKBOXING and old school BOXING 5 days per week to the local community. She assisted Coach Dean Eaoannu in coaching, and even learned to train several fighters herself. During this time she was also asked to teach Wu Shu by Grand Master NIck Greacenin, again while she was still a young student of his. Within a couple of years she discontinued the wushu training, though still taught some of the beginner forms.

By 2003 after fighting several AMATEUR FIGHTS with USA Boxing and USKBA, she retired from full contact fighting. Since giving up her fighting career, she has taught 5 to 6 days per week at Gold Summit.

As a YOUNG TEACHER in 1998, she began an intense quest to increase her understanding and knowledge beyond the training she had already received. Dissatisfied with the styles and on some occasions, the teaching methods, she sought the guidance of Buddhist monk, Reverend Shen Kuang. Eventually, after more than 10 years, she would come to learn the proper way of meditation, how to perform the Buddhist Temple services, how to give tours, teach Buddhism courses, and help with the maintenance of the Temple. Even more importantly, she learned what the higher levels of martial arts and practice actually were.  From this experience, a new Kung Fu style began to develop.

TEACHING IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND IN CHINA

Except for a few workshops and demonstrations, Laoshi Markle, only taught at the Gold Summit Institute from 2004 through 2012. Prior to 2012, devoting all her time to developing the methods and vision of Gold Summit were the top priority. Because of this effort, Gold Summit has developed STRONG ROOTS and a solid foundation in the teaching methods and style of Laoshi Markle. The spirit and methods are in the same class as traditional ancient Chinese culture and in the spirit of her own authentic Masters.  In addition, she completed an almost 8 year solitary spiritual training as of early 2010. For the duration of these years she sequestered herself to only teach and train, foregoing most social events, personal relationships, traveling and even movie watching.

Since opening out to teach outside the Institute, she has had the privilege of teaching both Kung fu and Chinese Dance:
  • Changzhou, China
  • University at Buffalo
  • Experience China Summer Camps of Confucius Institute at UB, Buffalo
  • Sacred Heart Academy's SHINE and Wellness Week events, Buffalo
  • Tonawanda and Clarence Senior Centers

ABOUT TEACHING IN CHANGZHOU, CHINA:
In Fall of 2012, she had the rare opportunity to teach Kung fu in Changzhou China at the Changzhou Engineering and Technology College for over a month. With 10,000 students, CIET, is part of "College Town" which is composed of 6 Colleges totaling 80,000 students. All the students were Chinese citizens who were Physical Education majors, all of whom did not speak English. She partnered with Wu Shu Master, Liu Jun, to learn about the style of the teaching there in China, and finally to teach some of her own style.
The reception of the new Kung fu style was exciting. Many students said the Gold Summit Dragon style made them feel "cool" and they loved the feeling of the training much more than their modern day wushu training. They were also inspired by having a non chinese teacher who knew so much about the culture and martial arts. She was published with a 5 picture editorial of Changzhou's Wujin Daily newspaper. The article can be seen at the Institute. She has been invited back to teach at CEIT, and in 2016 will teach Kung Fu at another College in Changzhou.
